This solid silver plate which was presented on Sept 13th 1859 to the manager and purser of Mary Ann Mine, as a sign of appreciation from the miners. It was made in Plymouth by the well known silversmiths, Page and Keen, with silver from the mine. The Mine manager was Peter Clymo, a well respected man, born in 1801. He was well liked that when he died, aged 69, 1000 miners and their families attended his funeral service in Liskeard. As well as being the Mary Ann Mine manager from 1846-1870, he was also in charge of South Caradon Mine. |
( This plate was donated to the Liskeard Town Museum by Mrs D Stephens and Miss D Metcalfe ).
